ShelfSmart

Student Led

Project Description:

This project is a smart, AI-powered operations assistant designed specifically for independent grocery stores and local supermarkets. Built by student innovators at Rice University’s Summer Engineering Innovation Program, the tool aims to simplify and optimize core store operations such as inventory management, demand forecasting, and staff planning — all through an intuitive, data-driven platform.

Project Challenge:

Many small grocery store owners face daily challenges like overstocking, spoilage, staffing inefficiencies, and limited visibility into sales trends. Without dedicated analytics tools, these issues reduce profitability and create unnecessary stress for store managers.
