SUMMARY:INAUGURAL CELEBRATION: Founding of the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership
DESCRIPTION:The funding of the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) by alumni John and Ann Doerr\, ’73 and ’75\, makes a milestone in engineering education at Rice.  RCEL is unique among engineering leadership programs in the breadth of activities it will foster and in the ipact we expect it to have nationally thanks to the Doerr’s generous gift and the commitments it has inspired from other members of the Rice community.  Their gifts gives us the opportunity to build programs that will help develop leadership skills in our students and better prepare them for wathever careers they choose.  It will enable us to take these programs “beyond the hedges” and help transform the education of engineering leaders across the country.  Join us to celebrate the Center as President David Leebron makes opening remarks and introduces the Doerrs.  John Doerr will also speak.  A reception will follow.
