Additionally\, attendees can cast their vote for a ‘fan favorite’ award. University-level and Department-level winners will receive hundreds of dollars in prize money. \nWe are currently open to sponsorship\, both personal and corporate.

DESCRIPTION:Each summer\, KPCB sponsors fellows to work in Silicon Valley startups that have its venture capital support. Engineering fellows intern in companies like Square\, Spotify\, Flipboard and many more. Throughout the summer KPCB holds social and technical events for the fellows who meet some of the top entrepreneurs in the country and make invaluable connections. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students. \nThese positions are highly competitive\, so RCEL and the officeof the Dean of Engineering are sponsoring a workshop on the application and interview process. We’ll have insight from former fellows\, tips on making your résumé look irresistible to the startups and how to ace a telephone interview. The Engineering Fellows program is open to undergraduate and graduate studentsstudying computer science\, engineering\, math\, physics or fields related to software development.

SUMMARY:RICE LAUNCH Entrepreneurial Summit
DESCRIPTION:Rice Launch will be hosting a day of entrepreneurial workshops followed by a chance to compete in an Investor Pitch competition. The purpose of this event will be to inspire Rice students to be the innovators and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. The event will not only help teams learn about ideation and business development\, but prepare them to start ventures both on campus and beyond as well. \nWho are we seeking? Anyone and everyone interested in learning about business and entrepreneurship. If you don’t have an idea\, no problem! If you do have an idea\, you can help those that don’t! Everyone will sign up as an individual and be placed into teams of 5-6 during the summit based on industry of interest. If you have an idea\, be sure to bring it to the summit and share with people that don’t. \nFor those that do not currently have one in mind\, there will be a long list of possible ideas provided for the purpose of going through the workshop to work towards presenting that idea in the competition. \nThe summit lasts from 11:00am to 8:30pm with free lunch and dinner provided. Prize money will be given to the top three teams at the end of the elevator pitch. We look forward to seeing all of you come out and proving that Rice students have what it takes to be successful entrepreneurs!

SUMMARY:Undergraduate-organized Leadership Lab
DESCRIPTION:This first ever student-organized RCEL  “Engineering Leadership Lab”  will take place in the OEDK classroom from 5-7 PM on Sunday\, March 17th. \nThirty students will be divided into 6 teams of 5 participants\, and each team member will have a turn at leading an individual activity. \nThere will be a brief introduction before the activities in which leadership advice will be given. However\, the training chiefly comes through one-on-one feedback from upperclass evaluators. At the end of the session\, every participant will receive personalized feedback on their own leadership performance. \nThe lab will include: \n\n5 fun small-scale competitions with prizes\nSt. Paddy’s day theme\nDelicious dinner w/ St. Paddy’s day dessert\nPersonalized feedback from teammates and qualified engineering student leaders

SUMMARY:4th Annual Undergraduate Elevator Pitch Competition
DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss the chance to enter Rice’s first undergraduate entrepreneurship competition of the year! This competition is open to ANY undergraduate student or undergraduate team with a business concept or idea. Entries may be at any stage of development. Teams or individuals will present 90-second pitches for their concept. The pitches will describe the designs\, the problem or need being solved\, the competitive advantages\, and the commercial potential of the venture. The top 6-8 teams will win cash prizes based on the judges’ scores.  \nCoaching will be required of all participants and will be offered on November 12\, 13 and 14.
