SUMMARY:RCEL Info Session & Study Break
DESCRIPTION:Considering being part of the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) Community? Need more information about what it takes to be involved? Maybe you’ve started the program\, but are unsure if you want to complete it? \nIf you are even the slightest bit on the fence about RCEL\, you should come to our RCEL Information Study Break! \nAt the event: \n\nA brief presentation by RCEL faculty will address frequently asked questions regarding completing the certificate\, and the community that is RCEL.\nA panel of current RCEL students (freshmen to seniors) will answer audience questions about the program and the RCEL student experience.\nAfter questions\, RCEL students will be available to speak one-on-one with attendants over food. This is to give you the opportunity to ask any personal questions\, or simply to connect and socialize with our community.\n\nKrispy Kreme Donuts & Coffee will be served\, along with other alternatives for those who aren’t particularly fond of donuts. \nWe encourage you to take a break\, and see if RCEL is a good fit for you! \nStay updated on our Facebook Event

SUMMARY:Rice Undergraduate Research Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Rice Undergraduate Research Symposium will be held April 16th but deadline to sign up if you want to participate is Feb. 28th. Since more than 2/3 of Engineering undergrads do research before they graduate\, there are some good posters and potential posters out there that should be in the symposium. Participating gives you good practice in explaining to others what it is you are doing in research — particularly valuable if you’re planning on attending grad school! SUMMARY:RICE LAUNCH Entrepreneurial Summit
DESCRIPTION:Rice Launch will be hosting a day of entrepreneurial workshops followed by a chance to compete in an Investor Pitch competition. The purpose of this event will be to inspire Rice students to be the innovators and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. The event will not only help teams learn about ideation and business development\, but prepare them to start ventures both on campus and beyond as well. \nWho are we seeking? Anyone and everyone interested in learning about business and entrepreneurship. If you don’t have an idea\, no problem! If you do have an idea\, you can help those that don’t! Everyone will sign up as an individual and be placed into teams of 5-6 during the summit based on industry of interest. If you have an idea\, be sure to bring it to the summit and share with people that don’t. \nFor those that do not currently have one in mind\, there will be a long list of possible ideas provided for the purpose of going through the workshop to work towards presenting that idea in the competition. \nThe summit lasts from 11:00am to 8:30pm with free lunch and dinner provided. Prize money will be given to the top three teams at the end of the elevator pitch. We look forward to seeing all of you come out and proving that Rice students have what it takes to be successful entrepreneurs!
