Be Part of the RCEL Experience!

“Engineer in the Room”

Engineer in the Room is a compact (about two hours) but rewarding opportunity to share the benefit of your experience with some of Rice’s brightest and most ambitious students. You will observe the students as they work through a scenario in class, and provide coaching and feedback when they finish.

We encourage applicants from a variety of professions and industries.  Because the focus of the labs is leadership rather than technical problem-solving, Engineers in the Room are not limited to people who practice traditional engineering day-to-day.  Rather, the crucial pre-requisites are leadership experience and interest in working with Rice students.

Speaking Opportunities

RCEL welcomes business leaders to speak to our students as guest speakers and panelists.  For example, our annual panel on Engineering Ethics features engineering leaders who have practical experience in applying an ethical framework to real-world business challenges.  These speaker events take place throughout the year, usually in the evening.

If you would like to participate as a Guest Speaker in an RCEL class or event, please contact George Webb, RCEL Industry Relations Director.
