Rice Drone Camp

June 6, 2016 @ 8:00 AM - June 10, 2016 @ 5:00 PM

In Aug. 2015, the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) and TrumbullUnmanned hosted a group of 20 middle school students for a 3-day pilot of the inaugural Rice Drone Camp, as featured by Fox News, BP, Drone 360 Magazine, The WB, Oil & Gas Journal, and a variety of print and online publications. (See links below)
Rice Drone Camp students explore the engineering and science of drone technology and UAV systems, while also examining the social and cultural implications of technological advances. The program includes technical lectures from Rice faculty and professional engineers, project-based learning experiences, and hands-on training in drone operation.
The curriculum of the camp was designed to provide a rigorous, project-based learning experience, while also aligning with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and federal education standards.

Current (Spring 2016) 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are welcomed to apply.

Through the support of our industry partners, we are able to provide FREE TUITION for all students admitted students to the 2016 Rice Drone Camp.

In addition, we will be taking students to visit the Microsoft Technology Center to explore cutting edge advances in the computer technology that drives the drone and aerial robotics industry.
