SPLASHDOWN returns!

After being cancelled in 2020, COVID restrictions and ever changing weather couldn’t keep teams of engineering undergrads from taking on the Splashdown challenge! Four teams worked through rain and shine to create cardboard crafts to cross the Rice Rec Center competition pool with varying success.  RCEL Student Leadership worked hard to bring the spring recruiting event to life amid the ever changing COVID restrictions, and pulled off a successful event!  Way to go team!

RCEL event introduces engineering students to patent law

The virtual event was sponsored by the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) and the Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease law firm, which has offices in seven cities in the United States, including Houston. Three patent attorneys and two patent agents — both Rice graduates — from the firm served as instructors.

Wiley appointed Associate Director of the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership, Webb named Industry Relations Director

The Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) is proud to announce the appointment of Ebony Wiley to Associate Director and George Webb to Industry Relations Director. Wiley will work to expand RCEL’s outward reaching programs, including K-12 initiatives and professional education programming, while Webb will continue to increase RCEL’s corporate outreach opportunities through partnerships and sponsorships.

RCEL course allows students to explore career options with industry leaders

“Our goal at the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) was to create an environment where students can learn technical and leadership skills at an elite, Rice-like, online engineering camp, one with a low student-teacher ratio,” said C.
